About the stencils:
RAF Gütersloh was a Royal Air Force air base in Germany, the nearest RAF air base to the East/West German border. It was constructed by the Germans prior to World War II and originally built for the Luftwaffe. The base was captured by the Americans in 1945 and passed on to the RAF in the same year.
